Thompson: Packers needed "more juice"

Green Bay, WI - The Green Bay Packers selected 10 players in the 2017 NFL Draft. 6 on offense. 4 on defense. While Ted Thompson has always professed he makes picks "based on the best player available" the Packers general manager certainly went directly after some of the team's most critical needs; defensive secondary, pass rush, and offensive backfield. 

In recent years Thompson has only drafted 7 or 8 players to supplement the roster, and stock for the future. This offseason has been much more dramatic with free agency additions, and draft picks, the most since 2006, Thompson's second year in Green Bay, when the team was clearly in rebuilding mode. Saturday night after the final pick, Thompson told reporters he may have traded down to have even more picks this weekend, but "the deals (trades) just didn't work out." READ MORE
