Goldsberry: Giannis more than MVP, he is the best in the world

April 12, 2019 - 3:24 pm

"This season's MVP vote will probably be close. But the league's best team has a superstar who is clearly the best two-way player in the world's best two-way sport. What is more valuable than that?"

That's how ESPN's Kirk Goldsberry describes Giannis Antetokounmpo. He makes a strong case for Antetokounmpo as the best basketball player alive and the NBA's MVP...and it's Defensive Player of the Year, for good measure. The stats back him up:

1. Giannis is the most dominant and efficient post scorer since Shaquille O'Neal.

2. He has (Greek) freakish playmaking ability that is second to none.

3. His length, athleticism, versatility and effort make him a dangerous defender both in the paint and on the perimter.

4. All of the above directly impact his team's success...not just his own stats.

Goldsberry dives into the numbers covering each of those four criteria that define the Greek Freak's greatness. Read more here.
