Murphy remains keen on reorganized power structure

February 07, 2019 - 4:23 pm

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Mark Murphy broke convention last year when he announced that both the general manager and the head coach would report to him. The decision drew ire from some Packers fans, others developed a mantra of "anything it takes to win."

Per Richard Ryman's recent article for the Green Bay Press-Gazette:

"I know it's different than what we've done in the past," Murphy said in a recent interview, "but from a business standpoint, most CEOs and presidents want the most-important people in the organization reporting to them, because that's going to determine the success of the organization....The most important part of our organization is the football performance."

Murphy is pleased with how his managerial decision has panned out thus far. Do you agree?
