CHICAGO -- The Brewers beat the Cubs 7-0 at Wrigley Field, Friday. It was the Brewers' seventh consecutive victory and pulled them into a tie with the Cubs atop the National League Central Division standings.

Ryan Braun broke the scoring open, defying the wind to belt his eighth home run of the season, in the top of the fourth inning. After that, the runs came in pairs. In the seventh, Yasmani Grandal scored on a fielder's choice and Mike Moustakas scored on a Ben Gamel sacrifice fly. In the eighth, Braun scored on a Grandal sac fly and Jesus Aguilar drove in Braun with an RBI single. In the ninth, Grandal scored Orlando Arcia with an infield single and Aguilar drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Eric Thames.

The run production supported a winning performance from Gio Gonzalez in the start. He threw five and two-thirds scoreless innings, allowed two hits and three walks while striking out three, to earn his first "W" with the Brewers this season. Corbin Burnes, Matt Albers, Alex Claudio, Junior Guerra and Adrian Houser kept the shutout going out of the bullpen. The FAN's baseball insider Adam McCalvy has more at Brewers.com.
