Brewers relief pitcher Corey Knebel has elected to have Tommy John surgery next Wednesday, Apr. 3. He will be out for the remainder of the season according to The FAN's baseball insider Adam McCalvy.

Knebel was an All-Star in 2017 when he was the Brewers’ closer. He pitched in 76 games and recorded 39 saves that season while posting a 1.78 ERA.

The former All-Star has been playing with a partially torn UCL for several seasons. He reported that he was struggling with the injury during Spring Training this year.

The right-hander received a second and third opinion on his injured elbow before making the final decision to get the reconstructive surgery. Read more here.
