MADISON, Wis. -- Former Wisconsin Badgers wide receiver Quintez Cephus has been reinstated to UW-Madison, the university announced in a statement Monday. The athletic department announced that he will rejoin the football program accordingly.

Cephus, who was found not guilty of two sexual assault charges earlier this month, has been away from the football team and the university since being expelled amid said allegations in 2018.

"We want the best for him," said Kendric Pryor, a fellow wide receiver. "I would love for him to come back here, if that's what he wants to do."

His last time on the field, Cephus compiled 501 yards and six touchdowns on 30 catches as a sophomore in 2017.

"I know what he was before. What he was then, he meant a ton to this team," said Head Coach Paul Chryst. "He was one of those connectors that unified different groups and I think had a lot of respect and I think that he would still bring that."

The UW-Madison's official statement regarding Cephus is available below.
