Crew swept in St. Louis

MIL 2, STL 5

ST. LOUIS -- The Milwaukee Brewers fell 5-2 to the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 3, Wednesday. It's the second time the Crew has been swept this season, dropping them to 13-13 on the season

Things started promising for the Crew, at first. Eric Thames got them on the board in the first inning, belting his fifth home run of the season on the fifth pitch of the afternoon.

It wasn't until the ninth inning that they added another tally. With the two out and the bases juiced, Ben Gamel drew a walk to score Eric Thames. Christian Yelich, who had the day off, then grabbed a bat to pinch hit against Jordan Hicks. Unfortunately for the Brewers, Yelich's early season success against the Cardinals didn't make the trip from Miller Park to Busch Stadium. On a pitch in the dirt, and the bases full of Brewers, Yelich was rung-up on a checked swing to end the game.

The loss was credited to Jhoulys Chacín, his third of the season, after four innings and four runs given up. It was a three-run home run from Marcell Ozuna and a solo home run from Yadier Molina that did the damage to Chacín's ledger. In relief, Craig Counsell called on Jacob Barnes and Jeremy Jeffress -- getting a scoreless inning from each of them -- before working two innings of one-run ball from Jake Petricka. Read more here.
