Bart's Bets: Week 16

Season to Date: 107-107-9

TENNESSEE (-10) over Washington

Alright gang, let's put this .500 gambling record to the test! A lot of hard work and research for no payoff! We'll start with the Redskins, for whom Josh Johnson has more road wins than Aaron Rodgers this season. That's disgusting. I don't know how Washington pulled off a victory last weekend but I'm certainly not expecting them to do it again. Titans in a must win game.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (-4) over Baltimore

The money is starting to come in on Baltimore already and that's a mistake. Bettors are going to doubt the Chargers until the franchise ceases to exist. I like them to possibly make the Super Bowl and I definitely like them in this game. Lamar Jackson is going to look more like a rookie than he has all season against the Chargers defense. And as far as the home field disadvantage? How many Baltimore transplants live in Los Angeles? I can't imagine that's a high number. Chargers in front of a decent fairweather Charger friendly crowd.

DALLAS (-7) over Tampa Bay

Give me Dallas all day in this one. So they scored zero points last week. Oh well. The Colts defense is good and Dallas started thinking too highly of themselves after a five game win streak and the attention that comes with it. Cowboys big, with Zeke leading the way.

NEW ENGLAND (-13) over Buffalo

As I've been reviewing my picks this season, it turns out I'm incredibly biased towards the favorites. The one thing that does scare me off is high point spreads, but it won't this week. Not with the Patriots at home against Buffalo.

CAROLINA (+3) over Atlanta

I'll take the underdog here even though the Panthers started out as a three point favorite. Cam Newton's absence created a quick six point swing but I'm going to go against the grain and take Carolina. I was loading up on the Falcons defense in fantasy leagues but I'm going to change my mind on that. What's to say the Falcons are any better than a Carolina team with Taylor Heinicke at quarterback? Atlanta has been just as disappointing. I like the Panthers to make it the Christian McCaffrey show as he closes in on 1,000 yards rushing (979) and 100 receptions (94).

INDIANAPOLIS (-9) over New York Giants

Drew Brees, Patrick Mahomes and Philip Rivers are making up the MVP conversation, but where is Andrew Luck's name? The Colts have been so scarcely viewed by a national audience that we're missing how good Luck has been in his comeback season. I like the Colts to shake through this one.

MIAMI (-4) over Jacksonville

I can see Jacksonville being the play by the sharks but they aren't any good this season. Miami will bounce back and get the home dub.

PHILADELPHIA (-1) over Houston

The Texans started as a 1.5 point favorite but that line has quickly moved to Philly. Bettors see what I see, the Eagles as the surprise team to somehow find their way into the postseason. Foles magic got them on the podium last season. History seems to be repeating itself.

DETROIT (+6) over Minnesota

I'm only taking the Lions because I think it would be funny if the Vikings lost.

Green Bay (-3) over NEW YORK JETS

Aaron Rodgers playing is the right decision. Even though everyone that I view as smart when it comes to football thinks he should sit, I'm fine with him playing. In fact, I want him too. If you want him to play in the preseason, wouldn't you also want him to play in these final weeks? Get some reps with the young guys and build confidence that you can carry with you through the entire offseason. I like the defense to step up in a Green Bay victory.

Cincinnati (+9) over CLEVELAND

The line started at 7 and by Thursday was up to 9, just a little too high for me in an in-state rivalry matchup. I'll go with the Bengals.

Los Angeles Rams (-14) over ARIZONA

Rams need to get right and they'll do that in this slumpbuster game. I see a big Rams lead early, followed by the pulling of starters early and the second half will not be worth watching for anyone. As a Todd Gurley fantasy owner this worries me, as I don't think he'll play much in this one.

Chicago (-4) over SAN FRANCISCO

While the Bears may be do for a letdown game with how nuts fans went over winning the NFC North, it's not the fans that are playing the game. The Bears are much more level headed than a fanbase who thinks you get a Lombardi trophy for winning one of football's eight four-team divisions, and they'll have no problem in San Francisco.

Pittsburgh (+6) over NEW ORLEANS

I like this game to be a shootout and for us to rediscover the high powered Saints offense that we've been missing the last few weeks, but I do think the Steelers keep it close. High scoring, but close.

SEATTLE (+2.5) over Kansas City

I'll tell you right now I'm gonna get this game wrong.

OAKLAND (+3) over Denver

It what most likely will be the final Raiders game in Oakland, I like them to reward the fans with a Christmas miracle.
