Bart's Bets: Week 5

Week 1: 10-5-1
Week 2: 7-9
Week 3: 7-9
Week 4: 6-6-3

Total: 30-29-4

NEW ENGLAND (-10) over Indianapolis

This win improves me to 4-0-1 on Thursday Night Football, which is a needed bright spot considering how average I've been since Week 1. And three pushes last week! Dang.

CLEVELAND (+3) over Baltimore

Cleveland has at least shown that they are a much improved team from a season ago, and I like them to get their second win of the season here. I believe in Baltimore this season but this one of those old Chuck Freimund specials, where a division opponent is an underdog by three points at home. I'll buy into that theory and take the Browns here.

Jacksonville (+3) over KANSAS CITY

With Kansas City being the lone undefeated AFC team, I'm going to probably bet against them until they drop their first game. If anyone can slow down Mahomes and beat them at home, it's Jacksonville.

Tennessee (-5.5) over BUFFALO

The Titans are not a team that gets the national attention but with a win this weekend they'd improve to 4-1 and possibly have first place all to themselves in the AFC South. In my preseason predictions I took the AFC South to have three playoff teams. Tennessee and Jacksonville appear on track, the Texans are not holding up my end of the bargain quite yet.

CAROLINA (-6.5) over New York Giants

Seems too high of a line but I'll ride with Cam Newton at home as I often do. The Giants should be better than their record at this point, but isn't that something we're saying every season?

Denver (-1) over NEW YORK JETS

Jets were favored initially and a home win for them wouldn't surprise me but I've been prone to favor the Broncos this season. They played a competitive game against the Chiefs on Monday night and I think they build on that with a road win.

PITTSBURGH (-3) over Atlanta

Steelers would be 1-3-1 with a loss, the Falcons 1-4. That's startling. I give the slight edge here to the home team and Vegas does as well, so let's ride with the Steelers.

Green Bay (pick) over DETROIT

I went Packers 30-20 in our station prediction video but honestly a loss here wouldn't surprise me or I think anyone. We'll see how healthy the receiving core is but I think the anger Rodgers has shown with the offense yields positive results and the Pack improves to 3-1-1.

MIAMI (+6) over Cincinnati

Miami might be a little disrespected here after getting waxed in Foxboro. I'll take the Bengals to win but the Dolphins to cover.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (-6) over Oakland

I liked the Chargers to win big last week against San Francisco but instead it was a close call. I think they get the points against the other Bay Area team and stay afloat in the AFC West.

SAN FRANCISCO (-4) over Arizona

Surprised this line isn't higher to be honest. The 49ers could start 46 year-old Jim Druckenmiller in this one and I'd still ride with the home team here.

PHILADELPHIA (-3) over Minnesota

A rematch of last year's NFC Championship Game. The Eagles haven't looked quite yet the reigning Super Bowl Champions and I'll say they finally do in this game against a Vikings defense that has looking nothing close to good, much less elite.

SEATTLE (+7.5) over Los Angeles Rams

Too high of a line and an upset Seahawks victory wouldn't be the most shocking thing of the weekend. I'll still take the Rams but by a couple.

HOUSTON (-3) over Dallas

I know it's been a tough start for Houston and I'm still waiting for that insane 5 TD game from Watson, Sunday Night Football would be as good of a time as any to do it.

NEW ORLEANS (-6) over Washington

Where I'd go in my confidence pools this week if I wasn't eliminated in week one!
