Bart's Bets: NBA Finals

In my continual quest to take as much of Chuck Freimund's money as possible, placing a few friendly wagers on the NBA Finals was a given.

I'll be betting with my head as well as my heart in this one (brother works for the Warriors, if you haven't heard me say that ad naseum), as I am taking the Golden State Warriors in 5. Even though this rematch between the Warriors and Cleveland has been inevitable since Game 7 ended nearly one year ago, I predict fans will be disappointed that the third one is not the classic we hoped it would be. I'm thinking Major League theory here. The first two Major League movies were great, and often I confuse parts of one movie with the other. The same is true for the 2015 and 2016 version of these Finals. But the third Major League movie was a truly awful piece of cinema, and I'm almost willing to go Warriors in four if it wasn't for LeBron James.

I know a Warriors sweep would be the hottest of takes, and Warriors in 5 even seems wrong, but these playoffs have been bad and I expect that to continue. Golden State, now with Kevin Durant, has too many weapons and plays much better defense almost on accident than Cleveland, they should finish this thing up in a week and a half's time.

People want a seven game series. We want to be "paid back" for waiting so long for these Finals and for putting up with a lackluster playoffs. And I believe more people are rooting for the Cavs because the Warriors have become the enemies of the league especially after bringing in KD. So most people will predict the Cavs in either 6 or 7, and my co-host Chuck Freimund is one of those people. I am looking to exploit this. The bets are as follows:

Game 1 - Bart takes Golden State (-7) over Cleveland (25 "entertainment points")

Series - Bart takes Golden State, Chuck takes Cleveland (25 "entertainment points")

Warriors in 5 Special (this gets tricky) - If the Warriors win in 5 or less, Bart gets 25. Otherwise, Chuck gets 25 for each game the Cavs win after their first win. (ex: Warriors in 7, Chuck gets 20 "points").

Kind of a mess, but I won't be complaining about the specifics when I'm jamming all these dollars into my wallet come mid-June.
